The RYOBI P2003A is among the most affordable 18V cordless string trimmer from RYOBI. It is a lightweight weed eater weighing about 3 lbs. The trimmer has a 10” cutting pattern and utilizes a single string. It is also best for light-duty work.
The P2052 is an improvement from The P2003A. it is a straight shaft string trimmer and weighs about 6.5 pounds. It uses a single cutting string but has a bigger adjustable 12” cutting path.
The P2200A is a unique string strimmer. This is because it can be powered with an 18V RYOBI battery and can also be plugged into an electric socket. The model runs a standard-sized .056” line but utilizes a single string when cutting. Moreover, the trimmer has an adjustable 12” cutting radius. It uses a telescopic shaft, ideal for different height requirements.
The P2008A differs from the other 18V string strimmer models for different reasons. It also functions as a more precise edger with a wheel mounted on the shroud. This makes it easier to achieve a precise edge. It also comes with a maximum 13” cutting radius. It also uses a larger diameter string and a single string for cutting. It also has a variable speed trigger to allow for more control.
These are more expensive than the 18V models. However, they come with much better features. The 40V string trimmers will perform much better and last a lot longer. Personally, I think they are definitely worth the investment if you plan on using the trimmer for awhile.
The RY40204A is the basic 40V string strimmer with features common in a cordless RYOBI string trimmer. It uses a larger (.080”) diameter string and a single cutting line. It has an adjustable cutting radius between 11” to 13”. It also has a variable speed feature controlled by a trigger.
m differs from the other 40V models and is a little more expensive. It uses dual cutting strings and a bump motion to advance the string instead of the auto-feed feature. The trimmer uses the .080” diameter string and a larger adjustable radius between 13” to 15”.

The EGO ST1521S is truly a difficult string trimmer to beat. The price will be a little higher than the RY40250 but I think it is definitely worth it. The power and run time are a little better on the EGO trimmer and it is much lighter. If you are trimming for any duration of time, this will be a pretty big difference.
This isn't to discredit the Ryobi though. They still have a great string trimmer at a great price. If you have a smaller yard with only a little trimming this may be the best option for you.
